The "single best idea that a man ever had" according Dennett, evolution by natural selection is now a sophisticated and complex scientific theory. Much mis-represented in public communication: we have a little 'idea all know how it works, and is based on a few simple concepts. Not so, based on mechanisms complicated and easily mangled in the words of students and laymen.
